3. Our report to PHIP

Twice a year report what we did, who we did it with, how much and how many hours. In 2005 we donated $9,500 (cash only) to various charities 2,736 manhours, and also gifts, tabs, phones, clothes and other stuff.  PHIP Nationally did 2.2 million dollars, 404,690 volunteer hours.

4. Newsletters shared by Marianne from Metro, Whalers & information on PHIP

PHIP sent us a binder full of rules, ideas, bands, and PHIP by-laws.  Marianne announced we (WMPH) were entered in the bulletin twice.  Recognizing our Club’s 8th anniversary and that we are a charitable organization because we do 3 charitable events each quarter.

5. Golf game, a little kid’s putting machine to win prizes, just something different.

Scott Simpson won and Jim Sheridan came in second place. Others won consolation prices, including Barbara Simpson who won really cool flashing lei.

6. Point form from Robin Sheridan to review for those that would like to track their own points.  Karen has one on-line, it will be posted to the website with three sheets to it. The first being the points definition, the second being the points earned by the club members which will automatically update your event attendance and participation if John or Myself get the information to update it.  It will start with 2006 and move forward.  This will let you know how many events you attended and how many you participated with by other means, cash donation, product donation, etc. The third sheet is people’s email address so that you have them other than the yahoo group notification.  We are still working on trying to get a more stable environment for our website, so please be patient and hang in there with us.

7. Ideas for events, socials etc.

Walk for the animals – Bowl-a-thon – Pizza party, still looking for ideas, so please don’t hestitate to send them in.

8. PHIP issues throughout the clubs, Karen, Richard and Tanya added to the PHIP distribution list.  One of the ideas from PHIP is Corona Beads stealing. If a person says “No” you get to steal their beads.  So bring your beads to every function during the year. You don’t need beads to steal them from someone.  Everyone agreed to doing this and Marianne will order the beads.  At the end of the year, whoever has the most beads will win a prize, just something fun for the club to do.

9.  PHCofCT & WPMHC sent to Tim O’Leary a framed copy of his design for our Hurricane benefit and a t-shirt too as a thank you for the Hurricane Relief Benefit work that he did.

10. Pete Devine needs money to defray costs from the medical situation. Fran suggests do something now versus later. We passed the hat and collected $96.00 for him tonight. Marianne will talk with Colleen regarding status of it, since she knows him best.

11. Mina collects old cell phones so don’t throw them away.

12. Tanya will do paperwork for a 501C – classification.  Once we get that, individuals who donate volunteer hours will be able to claim that on their taxes if they choose.  The cost will be around $300-$400, this is one of the reasons we need to ensure that we get 15% of each event in order to get the money required to pay for this paperwork submission.

13. Mike O’Connell announced that Jake, the Ukulele player, at the convention last year will be playing on March 7th at the Iron Horse in Northampton.

14. WMPH Club will offer 2010 or 2011 to host the New England Parrothead Convention.  Hotel that will fit 500 people is the requirement.

Added Note:  Marianne talked with the manager at Price Chopper in Great Barrington, they will supply the Special Olympics event with 700 cups and napkins free of charge.
